To manage environmental service delivery within the Consulting Division of Amey, principally concentrating on the highways and transportation sector but also relating to property.
To develop environmental capabilities and recruit additional resources as necessary.
To provide environmental technical guidance to wider service delivery teams.
To assist in Consulting Division and other expressions of interest, tendering and business development activities.
To co-ordinate and review the service delivery of specialist environmental sub-consultants, ensuring that their work is carried out in accordance with project and client requirements.
To provide technical and business planning support to Contract Managers and Associate Directors.
To actively participate in relevant Professional Excellence Groups, in order to lead innovation and help to maintain cross business relationships.
To act as a professional lead in the environmental field, mentoring staff and developing our technical capability.
Requirements
BSc and preferably MSc in relevant environmental discipline.
Specialist knowledge and experience in one or more key environmental fields relevant to the highways, transportation and property market sectors.
Must meet requirements of Highways Agency Environmental Co-ordinator / Environmental Manager role, as defined within the Design manual for Roads and Bridges.
Chartered membership or equivalent of a relevant professional institution.
Computer literate in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook and MS Project.
Desirable:
Experience in environmental management, business development and service delivery.
Experience in environmental assessment, design and management for major highways projects, with specific experience as Environmental Co-ordinator/Environmental Manager on a UK highways project
Experience in preparing and giving evidence at Public Inquiry.
Responsibilities
Managing environmental project delivery and delivery of components of larger multi-disciplinary projects.
Line and technical management of environmental staff within the Consulting Division.
Recruitment of additional/replacement environmental staff within the Consulting Division.
Briefing Project Managers and Contract Managers across the Consulting Division on technical issues.
To provide support to major expressions of interest, tendering and business development activities.
To manage specialist sub-consultants’ service delivery on projects and in support of tenders.
To actively input into the yearly business planning process.
To attend monthly management meetings and to brief staff appropriately regarding management issues.
